What is fingerstyle guitar playing?

Fingerstyle guitar playing, also called finger picking, is a technique that uses the fingers of the right hand to pluck or strike the strings, instead of using a pick. The left hand is used to fret the strings and create different chords and melodies.

The fingerstyle guitar can be used to play a wide variety of musical styles, including folk guitar, country music, jazz (bossa nova etc.) and of course classical music which is totally fingerstyle, since very few classical pieces are played with a "plectrum" (medieval name for pick).

1. Anouk : Lost

Anouk is a Dutch singer-songwriter. She released her first album in 1997 and has since released nine studio albums. Her most recent album, Fake It Till We Die, was released in 2016.

"Lost" is a song by Anouk from her fifth studio album, Who's Your Momma? The song was released as the first single from the album on March 3, 2007.

The song was a commercial success, reaching number one in the Netherlands and Belgium. In the Netherlands, the song was number one for eight weeks, making it the second longest running number one single in Dutch chart history at the time.


2. Hang Me - Oscar Isaac
